Meet Mayra Hernandez!

Updated: Feb 27

Mayra Hernandez is the Coordinator for Community Engagement at Balboa Park Cultural Partnership in San Diego, California. She is the latest member of the Arts+Culture:San Diego Community Advisory Council.

Mayra is excited about the Community Advisory Council's goals to continue to strive for development and growth in San Diego's arts and culture assets.

Mayra's interest in Arts and Culture sparks from her childhood. When she was seven years old, her mom would take her and her siblings to their local library where they held art classes every Saturday. As she got older she maintained that interest and received her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with a minor in Art History at the University of California, Riverside.

Mayra strongly believes that arts and culture is very important to the community because it allows individuals to create, perform and delve into a place where there is a diverse audience with different ideas and passion for the arts.

Arts+Culture:San Diego is a coalition of over 100 arts and culture organizations dedicated to strengthening our diverse cultural ecosystem and achieving the Penny for Arts and Culture funding plan in San Diego.
